Toss
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl against Gujarat Titans at New Chandigarh. Iyer noted that batting teams had gained an edge during practice games, and wanted to take advantage of conditions by bowling first – and his strategy proved fruitful; GT have only won two out of their last five matches at that location!
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan had an effective start for the Titans. Both players were steady in taking down loose balls while keeping Marco Jansen under pressure, until Jansen broke up their partnership by bowling a length delivery which caught Sudharsan at mid-off.
