Wil Lutz’s 23-yard field goal in overtime sent the top-seeded Denver Broncos back into the AFC Championship Game since 2008; however, quarterback Bo Nix left with a broken right ankle as reflected in Denver Broncos Vs Buffalo Bills Match Player Stats.
Khalil Shakir helped the Bills take control in the fourth quarter. He caught a pass from Allen and maneuvered between two Bronco defenders before reaching into the end zone to grab it for himself.

Running Back James Cook III
Cook’s first drive for Buffalo saw them recover from an initially slow start with three runs of six yards or more – helped along by key blocks from Spencer Brown – for an explosive 46-yard gain that allowed second-year running back Devonte Campbell to break free and break one tackle before spinning out of another to gain all his yards in an efficient fashion. These plays, along with wide receiver Shakir’s catch on third down set up kicker Matt Prater for a 50-yard field goal kick.
On Denver’s subsequent possession, safety Cam Lewis delivered another massive hit on Nix behind the line of scrimmage, prompting him to make quick decisions with limited information available to him.
Nix attempted a pass toward Lil’Jordan Humphrey but it slipped through his fingers before reaching its intended recipient.
As time passed in the fourth quarter, the Bills returned to Denver territory. A lateral play between Kincaid and Dawson Knox netted 39 yards, setting up third-and-11 at Denver’s 35-yard line. Allen connected with Shakir again on his next play – this time sneaking past two defenders to score.
Cook completed his fifth consecutive game with over 100 combined rushing and receiving yards, giving him a strong chance at becoming one of the top-12 fantasy running backs by 2026 if given enough playing time by Buffalo Bills. Deep leaguers should keep an eye on this player.

Tight End Dalton Kincaid
The Buffalo Bills took the lead late in the second quarter when Josh Allen found Dalton Kincaid open in the middle of the field for a 17-yard gain. Their defense continued making stops throughout, including forcing Denver quarterback Bo Nix into a crucial fumble in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter.
Nix tried to run forward before realizing his foot had come loose; Ja’Quan McMillian of Buffalo recovered the loose ball at Denver’s 25-yard line, giving them their first opportunity to take an lead in overtime period.
Once again, however, their optimism was short-lived as Nix attempted to throw a deep pass to Brandin Cooks before McMillian intercepted it and returned it for a field goal as their only option in order to win the game.
Kincaid was an integral part of Bills offense on Saturday, and has become one of Allen’s favorite targets. Allen has thrown 29 touchdowns without an interception when Kincaid is present and only 9 with 15 interceptions overall in 277 attempts without him on the field.
Kincaid has made an impressive first impression as a starter, catching six passes for 101 yards with a touchdown in Week 9 against Kansas City Chiefs.
Kincaid earned FCS All-American honors during his freshman season for both San Diego Toreros and Utah Utes, where he was honored with second team All-Pioneer Football League selection in 2021. As an FCS All-American for San Diego Toreros and Utah Utes respectively, his freshman season saw him finish second overall for receptions while ranking fifth in receiving yards; eventually drafted by Buffalo Bills in first round 2023 NFL Draft.
Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins
After trading Davante Adams away, Buffalo experienced difficulty with their receiving corps. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has made an immediate impactful return as an impact player in his first season back with Buffalo – catching two passes for 41 yards against Denver before having a strong run that set up a game-winning field goal attempt for them in the fourth quarter.
Watkins was raised in Lee County, Florida and excelled as a three-sport athlete at South Fort Myers High School. As captain of his football team to an undefeated season and state semifinal appearance, as well as excelling at basketball and track and field – Watkins attracted five star recruiting for Clemson before signing his first NFL contract with Buffalo Bills in 2021.
Watkins struggled to meet those expectations early in his career, but his speed and talent eventually allowed him to adapt. Over time, Watkins rose through the ranks into one of the league’s premier receivers, earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors while in Buffalo before going on to join Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs before eventually returning home again as a Bill in 2022.
After an uneven second-half start, Allen began to get his offense going again. He connected with Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox on one drive for 39 yards combined – including on third down when Allen threw Kincaid, who deftly avoided two tacklers before outrunning Cam Lewis to catch an impressive 10-yard touchdown reception.
Denver entered the fourth quarter trailing 23-10, but linebacker A.J. Epenesa managed to sack Allen, forcing a fumble that Malcolm Roach later recovered for Denver. A punt ensued setting up Matt Prater for an attempt at 50-yard field goal.
The field goal put the game out of reach for Buffalo and sealed a hard-fought win for Denver. Although their young receiving group may be losing, Watkins will play an instrumental role in its continued success going forward.
Defensive End Shaq Thompson
Second-year linebacker Jonathan Linton makes big plays. On a key third down tackle he knocks running back Tony Pollard from Dallas Cowboys out of the hole before racing through gap in an aggressive blitz for an impressive sack on fourth down.
Buffalo had an opportunity late in the fourth quarter to take a lead with a field goal, but quarterback Josh Allen was sacked on his first play of the drive, leading to him fumbling the ball and safety Cam Lewis recovering it on subsequent plays.
On a subsequent drive, Thompson made another critical interception on a deep pass intended for wide receiver Jason Peters. Reading Peters’ route perfectly and flying to intercept it without delay, Thompson swiftly swiped away Peters’ arm to seal another victory for Denver.
After the game, Thompson addressed the media to discuss his team’s improved third down defense and interception return touchdown in the context of Denver Broncos Vs Buffalo Bills Match Player Stats. He commended his teammates on defense for their effort in turning momentum in the second half around and pledged his continued hard work until the final whistle blew.
Thompson is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason; last season he appeared in six games for Buffalo while amassing 56 tackles (33 solo), one sack and two passes defensed — his stats are expected to become available now.
