Although Andorra are lowly-ranked teams globally, they remain formidable opponents. England had to work hard at beating them 1-0 at Villa Park back in June before Thomas Tuchel eventually secured a more comfortable win at home on Saturday.
Declan Rice’s headed goal in Villa Park saw off Andorra and set England on their journey towards Serbia in Group K. Discussions around Andorra National Football Team vs England National Football Team Lineups have increased as Elliot Anderson made his England debut and will look to leave an impression against a strong Andorran side.

Andorra
The Andorra National Football Team (Catalan: Seleccio de futbol d’Andorra) represents the Principality of Andorra on international men’s football competitions and competes under FIFA regulations, being overseen by the Andorran Football Federation. Though its small population–fiveth in UEFA–has limited their success, since becoming official members of UEFA and FIFA in 1996 the team has participated in every European Championship qualifying tournament and World Cup qualifier tournament ever hosted by these organizations since becoming official members of UEFA/FIFA membership since becoming official members of both organizations in 1996.
Andorra took an early lead with Gerard Sola Garcia scoring from close range following Yedid Santaella Prinetti’s cross into the box. England responded in the second half when Declan Rice headed in Reece James’s superb cross; but the Three Lions could not add to their lead before Rico Lewis scored a 90th-minute penalty tie-breaker that ultimately forced a draw.
FC Andorra is located in Andorra la Vella, where their home matches are played at the 3,306-capacity Estadi Nacional stadium. Prior to this move, they played at Camp de Futbol de Prada de Moles in Encamp.
England
The England national football team represents England in association football. Since 1996, it has participated in international matches representing its country; qualifying for both European Championship and FIFA World Cup tournaments. Wearing white shirts with navy blue shorts and either white or black socks. Coach Gareth Southgate took charge as manager in 2021.
Declan Rice’s header gave England an early advantage against Andorra at Villa Park on Tuesday evening, but it was no straightforward victory. Arsenal midfielder Rice scored his fifth goal of six Group K qualifiers – keeping their 100% record and inching closer towards reaching next summer’s World Cup Finals.
Southgate made numerous adjustments to his team, with Tottenham’s Djed Spence and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson among those included in the selection process. Former Manchester City defender Spence could make his senior side debut following a strong start, while Anderson received recognition for displaying consistent form in the Championship league.
Lineups
Thomas Tuchel made changes to his England team for this World Cup qualifier against Andorra at Villa Park, giving fringe players opportunities while maintaining control of the game. Tottenham full back Djed Spence and Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson both made debuts, while Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze were deployed alongside captain Harry Kane up front.
England took an early lead when Arsenal’s Rice scored with an expert header after Reece James delivered an exquisite cross, thanks to an expert header from Arsenal’s Rice and Reece James’ cross. England kept pressing, though, as Iker Alvarez had to save strikes from Elliot Anderson and Kane that came their way before half time.
Even with their lackluster performance against Andorra in their last competitive outing, England should secure another comfortable victory against Birmingham-based opponents Andorra. But to truly excite their fans they need to show more flare in the final third and make their opponents work harder for victory. Despite missing several key players they still possess enough talent and quality to overshadow Andorra.
Matchday 1
England extended their lead at the top of World Cup qualifying Group K by defeating Andorra with an easy 2-0 victory at Villa Park. Christian Garcia’s own goal put Thomas Tuchel’s side ahead before Arsenal forward Declan Rice scored with an expertly placed header into the bottom corner to seal an easy win at Villa Park.
Although a dull affair, England were always in control against Andorra, who have won only 14 matches since becoming members of FIFA’s governing bodies. Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson made his England debut during an uneven first 45 minutes. He made an impactful contribution.
Tuchel made use of his rotation strategy and introduced Tino Livramento, Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon and Ezri Konsa as the game wore on. But even without top quality players on show in Andorra’s attack – including Manchester City defender John Stones who missed due to injury – their defence held firm and held off any threat posed by Andorra. While Dan Burn will likely partner Ezri Konsa at centre-back.
Matchday 2
England will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign at Villa Park by traveling to European minnow Andorra on Saturday. England have defeated Andorra on each previous occasion and should stomp their opponents comfortably despite missing out on top spot in Group K. Tuchel has given Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson his debut call-up and may keep an unchanged team on Saturday due to their inferior opponent.
England applied pressure in the first half, creating numerous chances to score, with Eberechi Eze forcing Iker Alvarez into an outstanding one-handed save with his international debut and Reece James coming close before Declan Rice finally converted Anderson’s exquisite cross into an opening goal.
Tuchel made changes shortly after halftime with Tino Livramento, Morgan Rogers and Anthony Gordon all entering play for Manchester City while John Stones (recovering from muscular issues) missed out altogether, giving Dan Burn and Ezri Konsa an opportunity to partner up at center-back instead.
Matchday 3
Under Thomas Tuchel, England earned their fourth World Cup qualifying win from four matches at Villa Park by dominating Andorra with ease. England took an early lead from an own goal by Andorran defender Christian Garcia; then Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice doubled it after halftime from Reece James’ sublime cross.
England remain at the top of Group K with four points after this win; although their heavy defeat by Senegal raised questions over their form and momentum. Andorra are currently ranked 174th worldwide and have won only one qualifying match so far; their performance during this match was lacklustre as they appeared lethargic for much of it.
Matchday 4
Harry Kane scored England’s winner against Andorra after an exhausting first half, giving them victory in a World Cup qualifying match that threatened to test their nerve. Thomas Tuchel warned supporters not to expect an easy win against an opponent ranked 173rd globally and his prediction proved correct as England found themselves struggling against Andorra’s well-organized defence.
The Andorran Football Federation was established in 1994, while domestic league play began the following year; however, major championship participation did not become possible until they were recognized by FIFA and UEFA in 1996. Due to Andorra’s small population and predominantly part-time professional players making international competition more difficult.
Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer remain unavailable for England due to injury; however Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold should feature prominently against Andorra on Thursday in a more competitive lineup, and Myles Lewis-Skelly and Elliot Anderson may make their debuts against Serbia three days later in a fixture which may prioritise first-choice players.
Matchday 5
England will open their World Cup qualifying campaign at Villa Park against Andorra on Saturday with Thomas Tuchel expected to strike a balance between experimentation and control. John Stones may miss out due to a muscle problem and Dan Burn may fill in alongside Ezri Konsa at centre-back.
Even though Andorra ranks just 173rd worldwide according to FIFA rankings, England should have no trouble scoring against their relegation-threatened opposition. Tuchel will look for attacking invention from his squad; perhaps giving Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson his national debut?
Declan Rice will lead his side up front alongside Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane, with support coming from Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane. Also available for selection will be Arsenal’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tottenham’s Djed Spence; with latter possibly getting his England debut after such an outstanding start to their seasons at Arsenal and Tottenham respectively respectively. Andorran goalkeeper Iker Alvarez may face multiple efforts from home team that test him.
