England secured a top-two finish in their group and are in prime position to reach the semifinals, which take place June 29. England have earned two top two finishes across their groups and can confidently look ahead towards reaching them, while South Africa must defeat England to advance. To advance, only the top two teams advance. For USA to advance beyond group stages into semis on June 29, they need to beat co-host West Indies before hoping South Africa loses to them and reach the quarter finals themselves.

Phil Salt’s powerful game helped USA recover from their slow start and take control of the match with an emphatic win. Corey Anderson hit 50 off 34 balls as USA held on for their title defence and moved ahead by an overwhelming margin.
Harmeet Singh’s valiant effort for the USA comes to an abrupt halt as he miscues a pull shot off Livingstone and is caught at mid-off by Jordan for 21. Previously he looked likely to score 50+. Shadley van Schalkwyk now joins Harmeet Singh at bat.
Jordan unleashes an extraordinary spell, decimating both middle and lower order batsmen alike. Harmeet Singh falls as soon as his miscued pull results in him being bowled for a duck, virtually ending any hope for comeback from USA’s side. Jordan even managed to achieve his maiden hat-trick, sending America spiralling deeper into despair.
Matchday 2
England beat USA by ten wickets in their Super Eight match to secure a semi-final place and send out a message that they are a formidable side at this tournament. Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 83 not out as England amassed 117 without loss from just under 10 overs, followed by Chris Jordan taking four wickets (to add on top of Adil Rashid’s two) making him England’s joint leading wicket-taker at this tournament.
Phil Salt and Andries Gous both scored half-centuries for the USA, but England’s seamers found some reverse swing to set them off on their journey. Unfortunately, rain interrupted play for over an hour until lights were switched back on and a delayed start could take place.
After quickly resuming, the USA openers tried to rebuild their innings; however, Gous was caught behind off Livingstone’s first ball of an over – an exceptional catch from Smith that puts their opponents back into trouble at 9-1.
On the second ball, Anderson attempted a pull shot but missed and was caught by Buttler at point. Livingstone then delivered a googly that Jones misread and missed for three runs which Livingstone caught at short midwicket for three more.
Buttler hit his fourth six of the match when he hit a full delivery from Harmeet over long-off for another boundary. Not content to stop there, Buttler struck one more six from Livingstone’s final over to keep up his run rate and maintain momentum for England.
Jordan took his third wicket of the match when Harmeet Singh attempted to hook him, only for it to hit straight back to Buttler at gully. Livingstone then sealed his victory when Milind Kumar attempted to pull an edged full toss off Livingstone only for it to slice onto his back foot before hitting into his stumps for five runs.
England are in complete control as they race toward victory, led by Buttler who strikes four winning runs to finish off England’s chase in 9.4 overs – an emphatic win that ensures they don’t need to rely on other results to advance further in their campaign.
