The Meghalaya Cricket Association has slapped lifetime bans on its coach and team manager after sexual harassment allegations were made against them. The MCA has also referred the matter to its ombudsman, retired high court judge B.D Agarwal.
Fresh players wishing to represent the Meghalaya Cricket Team will have to start from the grassroots by entering through inter-district tournaments of the MCA and special coaching camps. This will be effective from 2025-26.

Vijay Hazare Trophy

Sangma says he has visited the Delhi trial-cum-selection camp and encouraged the players to perform their best. He says he will continue to visit the camps of all the senior players and ensure that their hard work is rewarded.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent a letter to all the state units, asking them to choose their preferred tournaments. Most of the states have opted for the limited-overs series. The competition will be played in six bio-bubbles around the country. The tournament is set to kick-off on January 10.
Meghalaya made an impressive start in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, defeating Mumbai by six wickets in a Group D league match at the Wankhede Stadium. Guest cricketers Ravi Teja and Sanjay Yadav were instrumental in the victory.
Both bowlers kept the Mumbai batsmen in check and restricted them to a modest total. The Northeast side will play Assam in their last league match on Sunday. The team will have to work hard to retain their top position.

The Meghalaya Cricket Association has imposed a lifetime ban on the coach and manager of the Meghalaya Cricket Team’s Under-23 women’s team, following confirmation of sexual harassment allegations against them. The MCA has also referred the matter to its ombudsman, retired high court judge B.D.
Agarwal, and asked the state’s commissioner for women to protect the players. The Meghalaya women’s squad, including standbys, will report to Polo Ground in Shillong on 6 November for departure to Nongpoh and then proceed to Agartala.
