Karnataka Cricket Team Players have a strong domestic cricket history, with the team winning the Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy (vs Rest of India) in the 2014–15 season. They have also reached the finals of both domestic T20 tournaments.

In order to promote the game outside Bangalore, KSCA has opened 6 Moffusils/Zonal academies in Mysuru, Dharwad, Raichuru, Shivamogga and Tumkuru. Academy coaches regularly send reports to the academy office regarding the practice sessions held at the moffusils.

Mayank Agarwal

Ever since Virender Sehwag took cricket by storm, his impact has been massive on young openers in the country. Some of them have modelled their style on him, while others have soaked in his aggression to give it a dash of their own. Mayank Agarwal falls into the latter category. The 25-year-old possesses the elegance of Sehwag along with the aggressiveness that the veteran left behind.

The right-hander is a dashing player with a lot of punch and he showcased that in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He helped Karnataka chase down 224 with ease and even scored a cameo of 37 from 30 balls in the process. Agarwal, or ‘Monk’ as he is fondly called by his team-mates, made a case for himself to become India’s third-choice opener in the shorter formats.

Following a quiet West Indies series, the opener returned to form in the home series against South Africa. He was in the thick of things and racked up 340 runs across three Test matches. He has also excelled in the ODI and T20I formats.

Agarwal has been a prolific scorer in the cash-rich IPL as well. He represented Delhi Daredevils from 2014 to 2016 before being traded to Rising Pune Supergiant. However, he didn’t get to play much for the franchise as they didn’t retain him ahead of 2017. He then joined Kings XI Punjab and he’s had a stellar domestic season with them.

The flamboyant batsman has been included in the Karnataka squad to take on Punjab in the Irani Cup in New Chandigarh. Devdutt Padikkal has been named as the captain of the side, with Ravichandran Smaran and Nikin Jose making up the rest of the batting line-up.

Krishnappa Gowtham

Gowtham’s name might not be a household one in India, but his talent and potential are no secret. An off-spinner with explosive lower-order skills, he was a standout performer in the 2019 Karnataka Premier League, playing for Bellary Tuskers. He scored 134 runs in just 56 balls and hit 13 sixes. His bowling was equally impressive with 27 wickets from eight matches. This led to him re-entering the Karnataka Ranji team in 2016.

However, a lean patch haunted him and he slipped out of the side again. But, he tinkered with his bowling action and returned in 2017. He made a comeback to the India A squad for their tour game against Australia and impressed with his display. He picked up seven wickets in two innings and essayed his maiden first-class ton.

Ahead of the 2021 season, Gowtham was sold by RR to Chennai Super Kings for a hefty sum of 9.25 crore. It will be the perfect platform for him to showcase his talent and make a name for himself in the national set-up.

The current squad of the karnataka cricket team is a promising bunch with players like Mayank Agarwal, Krishnappa Gowtham, and more. With some more experience on their hands, they can easily win the Ranji Trophy this year.

They have also been a strong unit in the Irani and Vijay Hazare Trophy competitions, completing a treble over the last three years. With young players like Manish Pandey, Parthiv Patel, and Shubman Gill at the helm, there is no reason why they cannot continue their good run of form.

Karun Nair

Karun Nair is on the brink of a redemption story that will remind the cricket world of what it forgot too soon. The 33-year-old middle-order batsman is leading Vidarbha into the Ranji Trophy final against his former state, and he has been in imperious form. He has scored five centuries in six innings, averaging 752.

The team is also looking to reclaim the Irani Trophy that they lost last year against Maharashtra. They are expected to field a strong side in the final, with Nair set to lead the way. He has a chance to become the first Karnataka batsman to score three triple centuries in a single season, and he could be one of the biggest threats for Mumbai.

The team had a good run in the 2017-18 Ranji season, winning four of their six league games and finishing top of group A. They went on to win the quarter-final against Mumbai, inflicting an innings defeat on them, but suffered a heartbreaking 5-run loss to Vidarbha in the semifinals.

Mayank Agarwal and Krishnappa Gowtham were among the standout performers for the team. The team is expected to be even stronger in the upcoming season, with skipper Ravichandran Ashwin back in action after missing most of the season.

Vinay Kumar

Vinay Kumar is a fast bowler from Karnataka who plays for the Indian team. He is a good all-rounder and has good skills with the bat. He is a hard worker who has great attitude and commitment to the game. He is also a wonderful leader and always looking to help others in any way possible.

He made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2004-05 and went on to become the lead seamer for the team the following season. He took 46 wickets in the Ranji Trophy that year, including a five-wicket haul against Tamil Nadu in the final. He became a regular member of the Indian limited-overs squad, playing in three ODIs against England and two against West Indies in 2011.

In 2012-13, he led Karnataka to a historic treble, winning their seventh Ranji title and beating Maharashtra by six wickets in the Irani Trophy final. This was a remarkable achievement, as Karnataka had lost their previous final against Mumbai by an innings and 217 runs in 2009.

The following year, Vinay led Karnataka to another treble, with victory over Punjab in the Ranji Trophy final and the victorious Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. He was instrumental in both of these wins, putting in some superb performances with the ball and with the bat.

He played in the 2014 IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders, taking 19 wickets in the tournament. He later joined Kochi Tuskers Kerala for their first and only season in the IPL, leading them to a second-place finish.

Vinay Kumar is a very consistent bowler, with good control and line and length. He is a hard-working bowler who is excellent at reading the batsmen and can pick up a lot of wickets in a short space of time. He is often seen bowling a slinging round-arm delivery like Malinga, which has proved very effective against batsmen.

Among the Karnataka Cricket Team Players, he has a decent run-up to the wicket, generates decent pace, and is an excellent bowler at generating lateral movement. He is a very economical bowler and is especially dangerous when he gets a good bounce.
