South Africa’s pursuit began well, yet their top order struggled against an Indian pace attack that found considerable bounce and carry in Willowmoore track. They lost opener Lhuan-dre Pretorious early and wicketkeeper Richard Seletswane soon after but still managed to extract 72 runs from middle order batsmen.

South Africa needed 30 runs from each over in the final over to win and Heinrich Klaasen’s blistering 52 off 27 balls gave them hope; however, Indian bowlers proved resilient enough in the death overs to restrict South Africa to 244 all out.
South Africa’s batsmen eventually showed some progress after an initially dismal start, though their batsmen couldn’t convert Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Richard Seletswane’s 50-run partnership into anything bigger as Musheer Khan made sure their total was kept to under 300 runs.
