Dashing opener Prithvi Shaw’s blazing blade decimated the Mizoram Cricket Team as Mumbai cruised to a nine-wicket victory in their opening Group A league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy on Tuesday. He smashed nine fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 55-ball innings as the visitors ran away with the game in a jiffy.

The Indian cricket team’s swashbuckling opener Prithvi Shaw is currently in the form of his life. He is making waves in the domestic circuit as he has scored three consecutive centuries for Mumbai.
In the process, he has broken two important records in Ranji Trophy. Shaw has already surpassed Sunil Gavaskar and VVS Laxman’s record of 347 runs in Ranji Trophy and he is on the verge of breaking another one as well.
Prithvi is in the form of his life right now as he is on his way to becoming the highest individual scorer in List A cricket. His unbeaten 227 off just 152 balls helped his side to an easy victory over Puducherry. The 21-year-old smashed 31 fours and five sixes during his onslaught.
It was the maiden double hundred in List A cricket for the youngster. Shaw also broke the earlier record of the highest individual score by a captain in List A cricket, which was held by Sanju Samson’s 212 not out against Goa last year.
Meanwhile, Team Mizoram is struggling against Uttar Pradesh. The home side needs 128 in 90 balls but the hosts are losing wickets at regular intervals. The latest victim is Rinku Singh, who is caught by Myendung Singpho off Sagar Pandya. Mizoram is in trouble at 138/6.
Kerala’s bowlers have done an excellent job in controlling Andhra. Spinners Sachin baby and Akshay Chandra have taken two wickets each while Basil Thampi has claimed one. But a superb recovery act by Sumanth Reddy and Ravi Teja has kept the innings alive for Andhra at 190/6.

A punchy wicketkeeper-batsman, Goswami won the Emerging Player award in 2008’s inaugural edition of IPL. He impressed for India U19 in the World Cup that year and was soon picked up by RCB alongside Virat Kohli.
However, he could not build on his initial promise and played just 31 IPL matches across three teams (KKR, RR, and SRH). He currently plays club cricket for Flowery Field CC in England. He also represents Mizoram in first-class cricket.
Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran hit his maiden Twenty20 century as the side romped to an emphatic 159-run win over Mizoram in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match at the Barabati Stadium. The 23-year-old smashed five sixes and eight fours in his 107-ball effort to help the hosts post 221/4 after being put in to bat by Mizoram.
Earlier, Chhattisgarh toyed with the Arunachal Pradesh attack and raced to a massive total of 215 for three in just 20 overs at the DRIEMS Ground in Tangi. Rishabh Tiwary and Amandeep Khare shared a 96-run stand before the former was run out after a mix-up with skipper Manoj Tiwary.
The team, led by former UP captain Ravi Chauhan, was a mix of young players and experienced campaigners. The side has been in good form in recent times and is one of the favourites to lift the title. They defeated Tamil Nadu in the last round-robin stage of the tournament to reach the final.
In the past, players who have won the Emerging Player Award have gone on to make a name for themselves in all formats of the game. For example, Delhi batsman Aman Gaikwad was tipped for the national side after impressing with his top-order batting in the ODI series against South Africa in October. He made a solid start in his ODI career but went on to play just 10 matches in total for India.
Another recent winner of the award, Mumbai wicketkeeper Prithvi Shaw, has been an integral part of the Indian T20 and ODI teams. He has a good chance of playing in the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand next month.

They also have a match against Telangana on November 15. A win in this game will seal the Mizoram’s place in the Tournament Final.
Mizoram defeated Uttar Pradesh in a group match by six wickets at I. S. Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Punjab, on November 19. The Mizoram Cricket Team won the toss and elected to field first.
They made a great start to the innings with a brilliant partnership between Ringku Kangujam (53) and Heishnam Manikanta Singh (28) before the middle order collapsed. Mizoram’s spinners were excellent, with Johan Lalbiakkima and Sahil Sharma claiming two wickets each.
In the chase, Mizoram lost a few early wickets, but Eddi Lalhmangaihzuala and Vanlalramnghaka put in a solid performance to ensure victory.
