Ranji Trophy
The Ranji Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket tournament in India that pits teams from different regions against each other. It is the most prestigious of all Indian domestic cricket competitions.
It was founded in 1934 and named after Ranjitsinhji, who played for England and Sussex and is considered to be the father of Indian cricket. The tournament was first organised in the 1934-35 season and the winners were awarded a trophy that was donated by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.
The tournament is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and teams from different state associations compete in it. It is one of the most popular domestic cricket competitions in India and has achieved a similar status to County Cricket, which is popular in England.
Apart from the Ranji Trophy, there are other domestic cricket competitions in India, including the Duleep Trophy, which is a limited overs tournament that was first played in 1961-62. There is also the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is a fifty-overs competition that was first played in 1973-74.
IPL
IPL is the world’s largest and most watched T20 cricket league. It features eight teams and a total prize money of Rs 120 crore.
The competition began in 2008 and has expanded over the years to include a number of new franchises. It also has a number of changes to the tournament rules. These include mandatory time-outs during matches and an increased salary cap for players.
The IPL is a major source of revenue for the BCCI, and it has become a major platform for India’s cricketers. It has also attracted international players, and the league is known for its high-quality and entertaining games. Its popularity has led to it becoming one of the top sports leagues in the world.
During the 2024 season, IPL’s viewership exceeded 620 million viewers. This was a record for an Indian television event and the second highest for any cricket competition, behind only the Champions Trophy final. In addition to its TV audience, the IPL has attracted a large online following. It has also attracted sponsorship from companies such as Vivo and PepsiCo.
As the popularity of IPL continues to rise, more and more people are buying tickets to watch the games. This has prompted the BCCI to increase the number of tickets available for each game. The increased ticket sales are expected to boost the league’s value and attract even more sponsors.
Despite being one of the most popular sports in India, the IPL is facing some financial problems. Several teams have been sold and dissolved over the years, including Deccan Chargers (terminated in 2012 due to financial issues) and Kochi Tuskers Kerala (terminated in 2013 for breaching contracts). In addition, the league has faced controversy over its sponsorship deals.
The BCCI’s ownership of the IPL is also a source of tension. While the board has a majority of shares in the franchises, it does not have control over the team management. This has led to conflicts between the board and the franchise owners. In addition, the IPL has been subject to several allegations of corruption and match-fixing.
ODIs
ODIs are one-day international cricket matches that are played between teams with a ranked ICC team ranking. These matches are normally played during the daytime and use a white ball, although day-night and pink ball cricket is becoming more common.
Unlike Test matches, ODIs do not have powerplays. During the first 10 overs of an innings, only attacking fields may be set. The bowling side is also subject to fielding restrictions in order to prevent them from setting defensive fields.
A brilliant innings from Virat Singh helped Jharkhand to a comfortable 28-run victory over Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final at the Narendra Modi Stadium B-Ground. His match-winning innings was a display of supreme control, timing and fearless stroke play.
T20s
Jharkhand will look to build on a dominant performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as it prepares for its Ranji Trophy opener against Tamil Nadu. The Jharkhand Cricket Team Vs Tamil Nadu Cricket Team clash promises another exciting contest between the two sides.

He unleashed a series of boundary-smashing strokes and showed superior control to power his way to a sparkling 72 in just 39 balls. He will be key for the side in its search for consistency.
