Zimbabwe vs Ireland 1st T20I
Zimbabwe will look to carry their momentum from winning the ODI series into their three-match T20I series against Ireland when they take on them at Harare Sports Club on February 22. Led by Paul Stirling, Zimbabwe will aim for an early breakthrough and to rack up some early points under their belts.
Irish will be hoping to put behind them their underwhelming ODI series and get off to a successful start against Zimbabwe. Ross Adair’s fast hundred in their previous T20I contest against South Africa helped secure them an easy 10-run victory.
Ireland will be led by Brendan Taylor and Gary Wilson on the bat, while Dion Myers and Wessly Madhevere should provide stability in the middle order. Sikandar Raza will lead Zimbabwe’s bowling department; his experience is vitally important when facing such teams with two batsmen.
At Harare Sports Club, visitors will rely on players such as Ryan Burl and Blessing Muzarabani for extra dynamism with the ball. Their presence at Harare can give their side an advantage when facing off against one of its many bounces; both will play key roles for their respective sides.
Zimbabwe will enter this game as the underdog, but their recent form and home advantage are helping them do well. Their strong squad can produce some thrilling cricket.
Ireland haven’t been performing at their best with the bat lately and lost one of their key bowlers Mark Adair due to injury, leaving Josh Little out-of-form as they depend on experienced Harry Tector and Curtis Campher to step up their game and help Ireland claim victory in T20I series one.

Zimbabwe vs Ireland 2nd T20I
Ireland secured a series win in T20I cricket against Zimbabwe at Sydney Parade with an easy 65-run win, even after Modester Mupachikwa was dismissed early in the third over. Their batsmen continued building partnerships, led by Gaby Lewis who hit an outstanding 87 batting first-drop wicketkeeper Amy Hunter’s four dismissals as wicketkeeper was an Irish record in T20I cricket.
Ireland captain Heather Tayor won the toss and decided to bowl in what turned out to be a rain-affected match. Ireland struggled in the early stages due to missed opportunities before Josh Little took two wickets and helped tighten things up for them. Soon thereafter however, Ireland started losing wickets rapidly, with Brendan Taylor and Mark Delany both falling lbw within consecutive overs.
Zimbabwe found their innings difficult to get going. Paul Stirling was dismissed early on in the powerplay and although Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector managed to build an excellent partnership before both being caught by Craig Young. Irish batsmen struggled too with making runs with the ball but Munyonga and Musekiwa put on an important stand for sixth wicket before Musekiwa fell victim to Sikandar Raza.
Zimbabwe mounted an impressive comeback, reaching a respectable total of 137/6 with Munyonga and Musekiwa sharing in a 48-run partnership, but were ultimately unable to seal off victory, conceding over 100 runs with four balls remaining.
Ireland openers Mark Delany and Gareth Delany may have been disappointed to fail to achieve half-centuries during T20Is, yet will take comfort from having a strong foundation to continue building their limited-overs careers with Ireland. Furthermore, they’ll hope Graham Hume can repeat his strong performance from T20I One with another solid showing at the top of their order.
Zimbabwe vs Ireland 3rd T20I
Ireland claimed their second T20 International in an even and low-scoring series between Ireland and Zimbabwe with Ireland taking an unassailable 1-0 win. Zimbabwe are ranked 12th globally and will look to improve their T20 performance before facing Full Members West Indies later in June; this series marks their first since losing against Australia last year.
Ireland began their innings slowly, with Sarah Forbes and Gaby Lewis contributing steadily before Gaby Lewis was dismissed for 51 by Lindokuhle Mabhero. Kelis Ndhlovu and Laura Delany made contributions too but ultimately their total was reduced to 260 for six during an eventful day when wickets fell regularly.
Ryan Burl’s presence on the Zimbabwe side provides essential batting depth, with Sikandar Raza and Tashinga Musekiwa being two explosive batters. Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava also bring fast bowling expertise that can exploit bounce at Harare Sports Club.
Irish batsmen were unable to adapt to the conditions at Queens Sports Club, only two top order batsmen reaching double figures; Graham Hume and Matthew Humphreys each reached forties while lower order was also effective in run chase. Irish bowlers took advantage of moisture on the ball which assisted their spinners.
Muzarabani and Ngarava dominated the opening session, taking two wickets each as Ireland collapsed to 89 for five at stumps. Their middle order were unable to match up with their scoring rate, leading to all out for 177 runs at stumps.
Zimbabwean fast bowlers had previously dismantled Ireland’s batting, leaving their opponents struggling to match up with their required rate of run scoring. A single boundary was scored during Ireland’s run chase attempt as Ireland struggled to keep up.
Zimbabwe vs Ireland 4th T20I
After losing their opening match of the series against Ireland, Zimbabwe looked to rebound in their second match at Harare Sports Club. Unfortunately for them, however, Ireland dominated the opening half of their innings and put themselves in an advantageous position to go on and win comfortably.
Mark Adair’s rapid 43 led Ireland to a commanding lead, but they could not sustain it and fell short by three wickets. Zimbabwe bowlers Sikandar Raza and Richard Ngarava were impressive; each bowler claimed two wickets.
Ngarava started off proceedings strongly by taking down opener Peter Moor quickly with a dipping ball that Moor hit to Lorcan Tucker at slip. Ngarava then followed up his success by bowling Sean O’Brien who edged an offering to Craig Young at short leg – making for an early Zimbabwean wicket.
Zimbabwe’s batsmen found it hard to cope with Ireland’s bowling attack and were put under pressure following a slow start. Wicketkeeper Amy Hunter made up for this by scoring unbeaten 57 runs – joining Gaby Lewis, Laura Delaney and Clare Shillington in achieving this milestone.
Assuming the series remains level at 1-1, on Wednesday a third T20I will take place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo and be broadcast live by Sky Sports.
