ODI 1
One-Day Internationals (ODIs) are limited-overs cricket matches played between two teams of eleven players. Their format is determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which determines both how many ODIs will take place each season and the points awarded to winning teams in each series.
They typically form part of multi-match series and can stand alone or coincide with test matches; some ODIs may even feature triangular or quadrangular series play.
ODI cricket offers an entirely unique style of play to other forms of the game, placing greater emphasis on hitting boundaries rather than taking wickets. This has resulted in high scores and quick finishes which has made this form of cricket immensely popular.
Furthermore, its unique powerplay system limits fielders allowed outside the thirty-yard circle in order to encourage aggressive batting strategies, while its Decision Review System enables teams to challenge umpire decisions made on-field while trying to correct any potential errors which may have arisen during game play.
On Tuesday (12 August), West Indies and Pakistan are set to compete in their third ODI at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. Both sides are currently tied 1-1 after winning their previous matches; Shai Hope will lead West Indies while Hasan Nawaz will captain Pakistan.
Both teams will hope to avoid a whitewash in this series as this would hinder their hopes of qualifying for the 2023 World Cup. It will be an invaluable chance for both sides to demonstrate that they can compete effectively against some of the best sides worldwide.
Except for Shai Hope, both squads remain unchanged for this match. England have confirmed the debut of 22-year-old fast bowler Sonny Baker to join Jofra Archer in their fast bowling attack.
Headingley is one of England’s premier batting pitches and it will be fascinating to witness how both batting lines respond. The Windies have had remarkable success at Headingley in recent matches, scoring over 250 runs five out of six times there.
If they want to defeat Pakistan who are currently enjoying great success then their batsmen must perform at their peak levels in order to triumph.
ODI 2
West Indies defeated Pakistan at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago, by five wickets on August 10 to even up the three-match series at 1-1. Roston Chase and Justin Greaves combined for an unbroken partnership of 77 runs that led the hosts to victory – Roston scoring 49 not out off 47 balls while Greaves hit 26 off 31; rain had interrupted Pakistan’s innings at 37 overs, so their target had been revised down to 181 runs from 35 overs; fast bowler Jayden Seales took 3-23 in seven overs.
West Indies will field an experienced side for the ODI series against Pakistan led by Shai Hope. Their ODI cricket this year has been inconsistent, winning only one match while losing four and ending in no-result – they will hope that winning this upcoming series against Pakistan can turn around their fortunes.
West Indies batsmen possess the potential to score big runs and can alter the course of any match with their strokes. Shai Hope was dropped for Australia’s second T20I against them due to injuries; Kagiso Rabada missed this match as well and will look to return at Headingley with an aggressive performance.
West Indies will look to avoid another whitewash against Pakistan and hope to improve their home record against them in ODIs. They have played 140 ODIs against them so far and won 71 with only three losses and two games ending without results, while Pakistan have managed 73 victories with only six defeats or games ending without results; making the series between these teams an intriguing contest; Romario Shepherd will make his comeback to national cricket after retirement last year while Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam bring their expertise.
T20I 1
West Indies have recently experienced defeat against Pakistan in two Twenty20 Internationals and will hope to start turning things around when they take on them in a three-match ODI series starting August 8. The game will take place at Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. Currently ranked 10th globally and having won one game out of six this year, West Indies sit at 10th spot globally with just one victory under their belts thus far this year.
This match should be an intense contest between two sides hoping to improve their rankings and claim victory in a decisive manner. Pakistan won their previous ODI at Florida by five wickets and would like nothing better than to avoid another defeat against West Indies.
Though West Indies lost the opening T20I, they remain poised to take control of this series. Shai Hope will lead from the front, inspiring his side towards victory and scoring some runs himself – something which he did unsuccessfully do during their previous match against Australia. With such prolific batters like Shai in their ranks as well as Hope attempting not to repeat a similar duck performance like they had scored during its previous T20I, they may well come away victorious this time round!
Roston Chase and Justin Greaves led Windies to victory against Pakistan by five wickets with 10 balls left at Brian Lara Stadium on Sunday (August 10, 2025), thanks to multiple rain interruptions that saw only 35 overs being completed due to numerous rain interruptions. Jayden Seales took an outstanding 3-23 haul for Windies while they limited Pakistan to 184-5 in 33.2 overs – needing 181 runs from 36 overs to reach victory.

The inaugural T20I took place on 17 February 2005; currently recognized by ICC it consists of 20 overs per team for maximum overplay.
T20I 2
West Indies and Pakistan will meet for their third and final one-day international matchup of their series at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on August 12th. Shai Hope-led side is hoping to avoid being whitewashed after losing both previous one-day internationals of this series to Pakistan.
West Indies were dismissed for an anemic total of 92 in their second One-Day International, succumbing to a humiliating defeat. Sherfane Rutherford stood out, scoring 34 balls 45 that included three sixes off his first 34 balls faced. Roston Chase and Justin Greaves shared an unbroken sixth wicket partnership of 77 runs before the visitors were dismissed in 18 overs; Mohammad Rizwan was bowled by Jayden Seales for a duck while Babar Azam only scored 9 runs before becoming victim to Gudakesh Motie’s bowling attack before Babar Azam joined him before being caught and bowled by Gudakesh Motie after making one stroke change at number 11.
Spinner Nasum Ahmed provided Bangladesh with two wickets to thrash Netherlands for 103 and win their T20I series 2-0. Ahmed reduced them to 57-6 before taking two more in the final over, as Bangladesh cruised home easily with 10 balls left to spare en route to an unbroken 56 run partnership between Litton Das (54 runs) and Tanzid Hasan (64 runs in unbroken stand) that gave them an early edge heading into T20 Asia Cup starting September 9 in United Arab Emirates.
Since 2004, the Twenty20 format of cricket has become one of the most beloved competitions worldwide. Adopted by all Test-playing nations and several domestic tournaments around the globe – in particular, ICC World Twenty20 competition and domestic tournaments held worldwide -, Twenty20 has quickly become an essential fixture on both players and organizers calendars alike, and provides significant revenue sources. Each team of seven players compete on a 40 yard by 20 foot field while being limited to an innings maximum over limit per innings.
