Prediction
India will look to extend their unbeaten record at the Under-19 World Cup when they take on South Africa in Benoni for their semifinal. India have been dominant so far and their talented young guns will look to add another victory under their belts – both their batters and bowlers have been superb, helping India remain unbeaten throughout.
Both teams have already played four matches in this tournament and currently rank second and third on the points table respectively. India holds an advantage when it comes to net run rate; South Africa will aim to close that gap with a victory here.
Willowmoore Park in Benoni offers an even playing surface where teams who bat first have won 50% of matches; therefore, winning or losing the toss won’t make much difference in terms of game outcome.
South Africa managed to post a respectable total of 247 in spite of losing the toss and being put into bat, thanks to Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Richard Seletswane each scoring fifties. They will hope to build on their good start and mount a late surge during their final innings innings.
Indian bowlers Raj Limbani and Musheer Khan have been particularly effective at restricting South African run scoring opportunities with two wickets each taking.
As team batting second has won 50% of matches at this venue, it is crucial that both teams play to their strengths and avoid unnecessary risks. Given both teams boast quality batsmen, selecting some top order batsmen as well as death over specialists may prove useful here; wicket-takers could also prove fruitful due to an expected pitch that favours batsmen more than spinners may prove fruitful here; spectators and punters are sure to keep tabs on this match until its conclusion – stay tuned for further updates!
