Delhi Capitals

After 10.1 overs, a match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala was abruptly abandoned due to a power outage at the stadium’s floodlights, following reports of drone and missile attacks from Pakistan. Both teams and officials were evacuated from the ground as soon as they discovered what had happened.

Noteworthy is that IPL did not count this match as a winner or loser; rather it has been left as an “no result”, meaning neither team received points from this encounter.

Priyansh Arya’s blistering seven-ball 70 set the scene for a magnificent opening partnership between him and Prabhsimran Singh of 122 runs in just 7 balls, before being interrupted due to rain. Should their knock be added to their total it could put them ahead in the orange cap race.

Shikhar Dhawan

Dhawan, known for his aggressive strokeplay and fast scoring T20 cricket matches. He has participated in multiple international tournaments as part of India’s squad to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy tournament.

At this tournament, he made his debut against England and scored centuries in both innings – as well as taking one wicket – before earning man of the match honors.

Dhawan was instrumental in Kings XI Punjab’s victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore by scoring 132 off 69 balls with 14 fours and seven sixes, leading them to their biggest win of the season and qualifying them for playoffs as league champions.

He lost the toss and was put into bat, where together with Mayank Agarwal he built an innings with a 57-run stand before scoring 132 off just 70 deliveries for an easy victory by his side.

Kings XI Punjab then went on to finish top of league stage qualification by finishing as league champions, qualifying them directly for playoff qualification via league stage qualification.

Anrich Nortje

After suffering through an unsuccessful season in 2022 – when they finished with a negative net run rate and only won six matches – PBKS sought to rebuild themselves with new signings like opener Shikhar Dhawan and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada to add much-needed freshness.

On Tuesday during their match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Anrich Nortje of PBKS was required to change his bat due to failing an on-field gauge test.

Television footage showed Rahmanullah Gurbaz running out with alternate bats for him but Andre Russell fell shortly thereafter, sealing KKR’s record low-score defence of only 111 runs.

This incident marks a dramatic shift in IPL on-field bat checks, now taking place before each over at the non-striker’s end instead of at the striker’s end.

This step is designed to increase vigilance and enhance accuracy as batters may carry multiple bats in their pockets.

Liam Livingstone

Livingstone began his cricketing journey as an Under 13s player for Cumbria before progressing through their age groups and into their MCCA Trophy competition debut at 17 against Berkshire for Cumbria County Cricket Club’s Under 13s team in 2011 aged 17.

At that age, he made his MCCA Trophy debut against Berkshire scoring 21 runs and taking one wicket against them before moving onto Lancashire academy where he would stay until being chosen to make his England T20I debut against Pakistan – during this series hitting both fastest fifty and century for England plus smashing 122m six off Haris Rauf which made headlines all across social media!

At the 2025 IPL mega auction, PBKS completely overhauled their squad by building a well-balanced team composed of both experienced and young talent.

After suffering some early losses, the Kings ultimately finished first in League Stage with 19 points (won 9 and lost 4), before winning Qualifier 1 to secure their place in playoffs.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is renowned for his pinpoint yorkers and new-ball swing. An integral member of India’s 2024 World Cup-winning squad, he was highly sought-after.

Punjab Kings purchased Arshdeep for INR 18 Crore ahead of IPL 2025 after exercising their RTM card demonstrating their faith in him as a youngster.

He’s been an integral component of PBKS’s success, taking 66 wickets at an average of 19.50 in the 2025 season and being an essential batting unit member scoring four half centuries and one ton in that time. He will look to continue this impressive form in forthcoming matches.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant’s bat exploded off an explosive big shot against Azmatullah Omarzai in the eighth over. It proved pivotal as Delhi’s chase crumbled against Odisha’s attack in their Vijay Hazare Trophy fourth-round Group D contest.

India keeper-batter Ravichandran Ashwin struggled against England on Wednesday, underlining that he is yet to find his groove in an environment which demands consistency from players.

Yet on Tuesday he scored 70 for Delhi against Gujarat and showed flashes of the controlled and patient innings which should become his hallmark.

Pant’s performance could convince selectors to reconsider their decision to drop Ishan Kishan for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting August 24.

KL Rahul remains established ODI option while Pant and Kishan continue to press their claims with consistent domestic performances; though Pant must produce knocks worthy of inclusion or risk not receiving his call-up.

Harpreet Brar

Harpreet Brar was born into a family where most of his cousins had to give up cricket due to financial concerns, yet remained dedicated to playing due to protesting wedding invitations.

Finally he made it big when Punjab Kings picked him in their IPL auction after seven-year trial period.

This season, the Kings held out high hopes that KL Rahul would lead their top order to success while Andrew Tye and Mujeeb Ur Rehman provided pace bowling prowess. Unfortunately, in the playoffs their batting frailties put an end to any hopes for victory.

The team mascot features two lions that represent the courage and royal spirit of Punjabis. Additionally, these lions symbolize Maharaja Ranjit Singh – an iconic warrior who fought against British rule of India – while their colors purple and gold represent its rich cultural traditions.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel is one of the key figures on an underperforming Punjab Kings side and has proven his worth at both bat and bowl for India in major events like 2024 T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy wins.

Born in Gujarat, Axar plays an integral part in India’s national team setup; contributing significantly in their success at both tournaments.

He has already scored 100 runs for PBKS this season and will look to add to that total against Delhi Capitals on Saturday in a match that pits legacies, redemption and playoff dreams against one another – making for an action-packed contest!

The pitch should favour batters, creating the opportunity for an exciting run-fest. If Delhi batsmen can stay composed under pressure and control their nerves effectively, they could gain the victory they so desperately require.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is an Indian cricketer currently playing for Delhi Capitals in the IPL and Uttar Pradesh domestic cricket.

As an unorthodox spin bowler with left-arm action, he has been described as India’s future great spin bowler and was selected for both T20 World Cups (2024/2025).

Punjab started off their season strongly, winning four out of their first six matches before losing five consecutive ones and falling to fifth place.

Although they beat Mumbai Indians in Super Over to qualify for Qualifier 1, an eight-wicket loss by Chennai Super Kings in their final match ensured they were disqualified from qualifying further for Qualifier 1.

Delhi boasts an experienced side with strong top-order players like Shikhar Dhawan and Priyank Arya leading run charts this season, as well as all-rounders like Axar Patel who has proven invaluable this campaign. They look poised to challenge for the crown.
