PBKS vs CSK

The rivalry between PBKS and CSK is one of the most captivating elements of Indian Premier League schedule.

Their battles showcase all that makes T20 cricket exciting — from large hitting to tactical bowling, interesting man or woman performances and vintage captaincy. Their contest has produced some of IPL’s biggest and most thrilling moments ever seen on-field.

After an underwhelming start to the season, PBKS have found some momentum by winning five out of their last seven matches and will look to continue it against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at home.

CSK have struggled to get their campaign back on track this season. After finishing sixth in 2016-17 with four wins and five losses, and suffering defeat against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils in their initial two matches of 2017, they’ve found it tough getting back into contention this time around.

Chennai-based franchise will continue their IPL reign under MS Dhoni for the remainder of this season. They boast five titles between them!

After winning the toss, PBKS elected to field first. Soon thereafter they lost Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre in quick succession in the third over, but Sam Curran’s brilliant 88(47) helped set them a target of 191.

Even after losing Priyansh Arya early, PBKS still looked strong due to Shreyas Iyer’s excellent 72(41), along with Prabhsimran-Prabhsimran late partnership and late partnership between Prabhsimran-Prabhsimran which helped chase down target with two overs remaining. Could CSK have retired out earlier? We shall determine this after-match analysis!

Match 1

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Punjab Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for what has been dubbed as IPL 2024’s biggest southern derby matchup, starting at 3pm IST on Friday April 11. MS Dhoni’s CSK have won five IPL titles – joint most successful alongside Mumbai Indians.

CSK have also reached 10 finals and qualified 12 times for playoff stage play-offs; more than any other franchise in IPL history.

The Super Kings have made an ominous start this season, losing three out of their opening four matches and their top order has struggled in Powerplay, with Rahul Tripathi and Deepak Hooda failing to contribute for their side in that department. Furthermore, Shivam Dube has failed to establish himself in their middle order — where he flourished during their title-winning campaign last season.

PBKS have made an impressive start to their 2018-19 campaign with two convincing wins under Ricky Ponting, with young Indian talent like Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya receiving regular playing time in their lineups.

Furthermore, their spinners – Maheesh Theekshana, Kumar Kartikeya and Wanindu Hasaranga — have been immensely effective early on – picking up seven wickets between them in their opening two matches!

Super Kings Indian players have a strong incentive to win this match as they vie for a spot in the final of IPL 2024 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on May 28. This will be their last chance to secure this goal and secure their position there.

Match 3

MA Chidambaram Stadium witnessed an extraordinary finish, as MS Dhoni and PBKS secured their first win against CSK since 2025. Yuzvendra Chahal delivered four wickets in 19th over to change the game drastically and put paid to CSK’s hopes of playoff qualification.

CSK seemed on course to break 200 for the first time this season thanks to Sam Curran’s fine 88. However, cutters’ presence increased the pressure as 48 balls would need to be bowled in their 12th over to reach that mark.

Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer kept their cool, scoring without taking every ball as the strike went from their bowlers. A surge in runs in the 14th over got them within five of the target; unfortunately a run out off Khaleel Ahmed left just two short. A couple of singles from Marco Jansen along with an inside-edge four brought them over the line.

Match 4

Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings rivalry is often underestimated within the Indian Premier League, yet one that never ceases to provide entertainment. Though other teams such as Mumbai Indians or Delhi Capitals garner more interest, games between CSK and PBKS always provide some form of drama and excitement – Chepauk Stadium will witness two teams battle it out for victory! Here is everything you need to know before watching!

Virender Sehwag’s harsh assessment of Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja’s roles is shocking, yet not without cause: recently he criticised them after their roles in an embarrassing five-wicket loss at home to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Prabhsimran Singh hit Matheesha Pathirana for four on the leg side, and quickly reached fifty with 32 balls bowled! He hit an unplayable six over long-on and then foured through extra cover off another delivery from Matheesha.

Khaleel Ahmed delivered PBKS’ final over with just four runs conceded! That made his spell one of the best overs so far!

Khaleel Ahmed claims the wicket of Priyansh Arya with an excellent backfoot shot that misfired and was caught by Shashank Singh at short third man! With seven wickets down for both teams in this crucial contest, winning it would go a long way toward keeping alive their hopes of top spot!
