Pakistan can increase their chances of qualifying for the Super 8 stage of the 2024 World Cup by defeating Ireland, but first need to win their remaining two games and hope both Bangladesh and Netherlands drop points during their respective last games. Ireland and Pakistan will participate in their inaugural multi-match One Day International series between August and September 2025, following an announcement at a meeting between PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Cricket Ireland CEO Brian MacNeice in Dublin.
This match marks Ireland’s inaugural visit to Pakistan since ICC introduced Test rankings in 1996; however, these two sides have played several one-off T20Is over recent years and also toured Pakistan twice for three-match ODI series tours (in 2013 and 2022 respectively).

After an initially slow start, Pakistan steadily increased their momentum throughout their innings. Ireland batted poorly during the first half, but steadily improved after Paul Stirling replaced Josh Little. To reach their target and stay ahead of Pakistani bowlers and qualify for playoffs. If not successful against Ireland they may not reach that mark – giving Pakistan plenty of time to improve before finals begin! T20I Series
Pakistan cricket team arrived in Ireland early Wednesday and are set to compete against Ireland in a three-match T20I series, serving as an important preparation ahead of T20 World Cup which begins later this summer.

Ireland’s pursuit of an ambitious target began shakily as Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker fell quickly during the Powerplay. But Andy Balbirnie and Harry Tector helped establish a good platform, while some late boundaries from Curtis Campher helped increase run rate considerably – even after losing Balbirnie in their penultimate over! They managed to see themselves safely home.
The match will take place on an exciting pitch with plenty of runs on offer from both teams, who will look to start strong and score maximum runs as fast as possible. Furthermore, this match may serve as an invaluable rehearsal for some players that may make up Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad.
Babar Azam will be without Mohammad Amir for this series as his Irish visa has yet to arrive, potentially delaying his arrival by several days and forcing him to miss some games on this tour.
