RR vs KKR

Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have faced off 32 times since IPL started in 2008. Rajasthan Royals have won 14 matches against KKR with 16 ending in a tie, starting on May 1, 2008 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur where Swapnil Asnodkar scored 60 off 34 balls to lead his side to an incredible nine-wicket win by run margin; Yuzvendra Chahal took five wickets as star bowler of this matchup.

At one point in their innings, RR appeared doomed when they lost three wickets quickly to find themselves on 107/6 at halfway stage.

But Riyan Parag’s superb innings helped turn things around as they trailed only by seven runs when Riyan fell to Moeen for 75. Hetmyer gave good account from both ends but eventually succumbed to Rana’s googly.

Shubham Dubey then struck two sixes and a boundary off the final three deliveries to bring Rajasthan Royals closer to an amazing comeback, but Jofra failed to complete their run-chase and KKR eventually edged out a well-earned victory – creating an edge-of-your-seat thriller which keeps their playoff hopes alive.

IPL 2025

On March 22, the 2025 edition of Indian Premier League began. Comprised of 10 teams and featuring two rounds of home-and-away matches, only the top four will qualify for playoffs; reigning champion KKR are looking to defend their title with new signings and experienced veterans joining their ranks.

KKR have confirmed they have added England pace bowler James Faulkner to their squad, after he played an integral role in England’s T20I side recently and scored over 2500 runs across 96 T20Is for them – adding him as one of their players could bring additional momentum during this year’s IPL season.

While Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have retained their batting line-up, there have been significant alterations in their coaching staff.

Gautam Gambhir has been replaced as head coach of KKR by Ricky Ponting – previously helping lead Delhi Capitals to three titles; Ricky will be joined by Dwayne Bravo and Rahul Dravid who will serve as mentors this season.

Shreyas Iyer, who captained KKR to victory in 2024, will lead Punjab Kings this season; Rishabh Pant was released by DC prior to the mega auction and since has signed with LSG as their captain; all other teams have maintained their existing skippers.

This year’s IPL will take place under a group-style format. Each of the ten teams will be divided into two groups of five teams, and will play all other four in its group twice before playing off against any remaining opponent for playoff spots; any bottom two will meet in an eliminator match to decide their fate.
