Phil Salt, Ramandeep Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi from KKR made the most of Lucknow’s excellent pitch conditions as Phil Salt, Ramandeep Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi played well to take their team to 235/6 in 20 overs. Narine led their innings with aggressive hitting which yielded six fours and seven sixes; supported by contributions from Angkrish who scored 32 off 26 balls while Ramandeep hit 25 runs from six balls!
LSG struggled to counter KKR’s bowling attack. Mitchell Starc continued his impressive form by striking early, dismissing KL Rahul to break their poor start before Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy continued KKR’s dominance of bowling attack.
Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Turner all fell to early dismissals. Ayush Badoni offered some resistance at bat but eventually the home team were bowled out for just 137 runs after 16.1 overs.
KKR have now won seven out of eight matches at Ekana Cricket Stadium this IPL season, giving them a strong chance to qualify for the play-offs with just one more victory required to secure their spot. LSG, who had won their previous three matches before this loss, dropped down into fifth position despite scoring 16 points from 11 matches while KKR have an advantage of 15 points with eight victories and 15 wins. KKR have won by an overwhelming margin and now lead the points table. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine put on an outstanding show of batting that saw them smash boundaries and sixes with ease before Angkrish Raghuvanshi added his support, helping Kolkata reach an incredible total score.
Once they lost KL Rahul early in their innings, LSG were never in contention for success. Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran tried unsuccessfully to bring back KL Rahul; Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy took wickets regularly enough that LSG were all out for only 235 runs – more than enough for their visitors to win the match.
Yash Thakur strikes first with an inviting delivery that gives Salt plenty of room to flick it over square leg for four. Subsequent singles for KKR followed.

He then hits another straight drive over covers for another single. As he attempts to reach 100 runs, however, the ball veers into the boundary ropes instead.
He finally struck with a six, smashing it over deep square leg for maximum. The over went for 24 runs and KKR reached 235/6; second wicket partnership of 75 runs off 33 balls was created between them and they will look to build even bigger partnerships over the remaining overs. LSG hosted their final home game of this season on Sunday afternoon and will hope to finish strong and make an impressionful statement heading into playoffs. In order to qualify for top four status in their league, more wins must be won than lost. They have an excellent chance at this, but to reach the top four they must improve their batting performances and stay at peak form – taking inspiration from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will certainly help.
