India vs New Zealand

India will face New Zealand in their final group match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. India have one win from three matches thus far and could potentially miss out on qualifying for semi-finals without victory; with victory they would guarantee themselves entry into knockout stages.

Co-hosts Pakistan fell to Bangladesh in their opening game before showing a steady improvement against Sri Lanka and then Pakistan, winning all four matches with unbroken 212-run stands from Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal; Jemimah Rodrigues added her own quickfire 76 during her comeback to the side.

Mandhana hit her highest score yet in this tournament and made history by hitting 100 or more four times this year! She swept, reverse-swept and opened up her off side for some exquisite inside-out drives as she batted with intent and purpose.

New Zealand struggled to establish their innings. Renuka Singh struck twice, dismissing Georgia Plimmer and Sophie Devine – killing their chances of making any dent into India’s total. Brooke Halliday tried her hardest, scoring an 81-ball 84; unfortunately it came too late as New Zealand slumped to 271-8 at the close of their innings.

The Women in Blue have enjoyed great success against New Zealand, winning four straight matches since DY Patil Stadium’s true bounce and quick outfield were installed, leading them to two victories and two draws against them at home. It remains to be seen who will come out ahead when both teams field strong batting lineups; stay tuned!

Match Prediction

India Women and New Zealand will face off in an important match-up at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as both teams vie for one of four semi-final spots. Harmanpreet Kaur’s side are currently fourth on the table following three losses and hope to put things right against New Zealand, who suffered a rain-affected defeat against Pakistan, to maintain their semifinal hopes.

Both teams will look to get off to an impressive start, with Smriti Mandhana hoping to regain her form while Pratika Rawal looks for opportunities. After this initial phase, middle and lower order batswomen must step up, while spinners Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma continue their bowling attacks.

At DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, known for its true bounce and quick outfield, both teams should expect plenty of runs to be scored during this matchup. Dew may hinder scoring however; therefore winning the toss may give either side an edge in scoring runs.

Deepti Sharma and Jess Kerr both possess formidable batting units, but what will ultimately decide this game will likely be its bowlers. Both Deepti and Jess can take wickets under pressure, meaning it may come down to which side can take more risks on the field and collect the most wickets overall. India will rely on their top order remaining intact, while New Zealand needs Sophie Devine to lead their attack with bat. Scorecard

India have already secured their spot in the semi-final of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 while New Zealand must win this match to remain alive in contention for glory at winning it all. Both teams hope that reaching the final four will lead to greater glory on winning overall tournament victory.

At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, play has been delayed by rain. Jemimah Rodriguez has batted 51 balls for 69 runs while Harmanpreet Kaur will begin her innings from ball 10. When play resumes, the aim will be to achieve 341 runs in 44 overs.

India will aim to post a large total and secure themselves a strong position heading into the final stages of this tournament. India’s opening pair Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal have been impressive, creating a formidable partnership and both surpassing fifty. Their efforts ensure India remain on pace throughout.

Rawal has made her mark in this tournament with her outstanding composure, reaching her goal with 13 fours and two sixes before achieving it with support from Smriti Mandhana who also passed fifty.

First time ever that both Indian openers have scored centuries in an ODI match – they must continue this stellar form if their team hopes to triumph tonight.

New Zealand’s lower middle order is struggling; Suzie Bates was dismissed for one run by Kranti Gaud and Georgia Plimmer and Amelia Kerr have not scored enough runs. Only Sophie Devine’s unbeaten 260 and Brooke Halliday’s powerful hitting have kept New Zealand alive so far – they will need to find ways to stop India’s powerful batswomen during the second half of this innings for them to come good against India’s powerful hitting attack.

India Women have struggled with their bat, making this tournament extremely difficult. Their progress was further hindered by poor weather as two of their matches had to be postponed due to rain.

Indian Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her team will look to recapture form when they take on New Zealand in their penultimate group stage match at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Both teams currently sit on four points; therefore whichever wins will move closer towards qualifying for semifinals of World Cup 2019.

India batted first and amassed an impressive total of 340/3 after 49 overs, led by Pratika Rawal’s magnificent 122 not out – second-highest score ever scored by her. Smriti Mandhana continued her unbeaten innings, scoring an unbeaten 109 off 95 balls.

Replying, New Zealand struggled from the outset and never appeared capable of reaching India’s target. Suzie Bates was quickly dismissed after being caught by Mandhana off Kranti Goud for one run; Georgia Plimmer and Amelia Kerr both fell cheaply within quick succession as India tightened their noose further.

Brooke Halliday led her White Ferns team in scoring with an 81 off 84 balls but that wasn’t enough as India secured their victory with ease.

Due to rain, play has been postponed until 7.50 pm IST when all puddles around the pitch have been cleared up and covered back over.
