The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) encouraged young Indian cricketers to prioritize domestic cricket over international affairs; however, due to a lack of availability this was difficult.

Indian team has been strengthened by Dhruv Jurel and Avesh Khan’s addition, while spinner Kuldeep Yadav returns. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah also rejoined. In this article, we will discuss about India National Cricket Team vs England Cricket Team Players.

1. Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow is one of England’s veteran players and his leadership skills are essential to its success. An exceptional batsman and wicketkeeper, Bairstow can play anywhere in the middle order for England. After an inauspicious start to this year’s campaign, Bairstow has shown himself to be in top form by scoring some important runs against Pakistan – including an emphatic hundred against them in August!

Bairstow was an instrumental component of England’s team which won the 2011 World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka, including Rob Nicol and James Franklin who each reached 50 runs during their individual matches. Additionally, he scored an important five-ball partnership with Joe Root to lead England to an unexpected 6 wicket victory against Sri Lanka in the final group game.

Bairstow made an impressive showing against South Africa in 2012’s second Test by scoring 95 runs in the opening innings and was promoted to number three position, helping England make strides towards reaching their required total for a 6-wick win run-chase.

Yorkshireman Tom Yorkshire made a triumphant return to Test cricket in 2016, appearing against India at home and struggling in two tests before making an impressionful comeback in three with six catches, helping England win by an innings and 64 runs.

Bairstow struggled once again in Ranchi, as England collapsed on Day 3, only Joe Root and Ben Stokes making any significant contributions. Bairstow’s poor showing could be partly attributed to India’s outstanding spin bowlers Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, which excelled with their spin deliveries.

2. Ben Duckett

Ben Duckett was brought back into ECB plans for future Test matches against India with his recall as Nottinghamshire batsman for Test 4 against India, an indication of just how important he is considered by them. At Under-19 World Cup he averaged more than 60 runs – only Alastair Cook managed this feat – and he has proven his worth in one-day internationals as well.

Duckett is a potency with both bat and ball; his impressive innings in Rajkot is testament to this fact. But Duckett may prove most useful as a bowler – as evidenced in Mumbai when he took four wickets for just 88 runs during Test 3.

He stands a strong chance of becoming England’s next big-hitting spinner and may find himself featured more heavily than many may imagine in future squads. His return to international cricket in 2020 showed the ECB is confident he can get back into top form after being restricted due to Coronavirus infection.

Shoaib Bashir will hope to maintain England’s strong start at Dharamsala with Shoaib Bashir starting Day 2 well with the ball. The young spinner struck first by dismissing Ravindra Jadeja, caught out to an easy short ball from Shoaib. Jadeja attempted to rotate strike but couldn’t get his footwork right which allowed Shoaib to gain control. Shoaib will look to improve in their final match of this series at HPCA Stadium Dharamsala on October 27.

3. Joe Root

Root’s slight build and cheeky grin made him the obvious candidate to lead England into test cricket, so when Alastair Cook stepped down three years later as captain he handed over control to Root in all formats for an innovative approach to cricketing strategy.

Root was an essential cog in England’s winning Test series against India that followed, winning four out of five before eventually falling short in the fifth. He may not have made his mark with centuries but still contributed significantly towards England claiming victory in each test match, including key contributions like setting up victory in the first test game.

He had also shone in the preceding ODI series against South Africa, scoring 217 runs over six matches and picking up 8 wickets. Though criticised for reverse-scooping Jasprit Bumrah in the third ODI which resulted in its collapse, he quickly returned to form in the fourth match, scoring 125 off just 58 balls!

With his versatility in all positions of bating, he quickly established himself as an indispensable member of England’s team and showed that he could lead when necessary. Furthermore, his influence helped train younger batsmen as they found their own style of playing cricket.

England’s star T20 player, he scored 34 off just 18 balls in England’s victory over South Africa in the second T20 before scoring an unbeaten 119 runs in their win of the fifth T20 against India at Dharamsala. England will hope he replicates that form at their fifth Test against them at Dharamsala.

4. Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is an all-round cricketer capable of both bowling and batting. Since making his professional debut with Durham in 2009, Stokes has taken wicket with only his third delivery and taken Mark Ramprakash out with only three. Since then he has competed in two Under-19 World Cups (2009 & 2010) and scored a century on Test debut (in 2012).

Stokes made a crucial contribution in both bat and ball in helping England secure a 2-2 tie (although Australia retained the Ashes Urn). Following his dropping after poor performances during 2013-14 Tour of Australia, Stokes returned in 2015, making his comeback in Sydney’s 5th ODI with an outstanding performance that sealed victory.

His success continued in Melbourne where he scored a man-of-the-match innings, as well as Perth where he claimed 5-61 to help level the series at 1-1 and become England Test captain for their 2021 tour of Pakistan. Stokes will lead his first Test tour as captain next summer!

Stokes played an instrumental role in Abu Dhabi, taking four wickets and scoring 57 with his bat. Unfortunately, however, he was ineffective during the second Test and did not contribute significantly in the fourth, which ended in a draw.

His bat struggled in the fourth Test but did manage to score one run-a-ball before being dismissed for just one. His batting will be important in Dharamshala as he must support Ravindra Jadeja well while staying aware of Indian spinners. Additionally, this left-handed opener could prove very damaging against India as they possess a formidable lefty who is capable of scoring big scores with ease.

5. Ben Foakes

England last won in India back in 2012 and have seen their record tainted ever since by the hosts. Under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum’s leadership, however, tourists hope to change that in this five-match series starting Thursday in Hyderabad.

Foakes made his first-class debut for England in 2012 and quickly established himself at youth level for England. Bairstow named Foakes his understudy in Sri Lanka the following winter; since then his calm front of stumps has propelled him forward as part of their leadership duo. Foakes was an outstanding performer during the 2022 Ashes series – earning international acclaim with his rugby tackle on AB de Villiers during Test 2.

The wicketkeeper has been outstanding throughout this series and even scored an exceptional century at Rajkot in Test 3. However, his performance dropped off considerably at Mumbai and will need to improve in Dharamsala in order to remain part of the team.

Dharamsala will play host to England as they strive to avoid an innings defeat and suffer their first series loss since Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes became coach and captain respectively. The hosts will look to make it three wins out of four against them as Brendon McCullum leads their side as coach/captain duo.

India are currently leading England by 259 runs in Dharamsala’s fifth and final Test match, thanks to strong batting from host India on days one and two of this Test match. India dominated England on these two opening days of play as they managed to build up an early lead. Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Siraj’s spinners have been particularly impressive thus far with both taking four wickets so far; Devdutt Padikkal, making his Test debut, has hit several fours on his journey towards half century before playing his half marathon innings before eventually retiring out on day four!
