Bangladesh and Zimbabwe share an enduring cricketing rivalry. Their encounters capture the essence of competitive cricket by showing not only individual player brilliance but also showing how their nation’s cricketing landscape has progressed over time.
Zimbabwe were inspired by Vincent Masekesa and Wessley Madhevere’s dynamic performances in Sylhet, earning them an unlikely victory against Bangladesh. Unfortunately, however, their fortunes could not repeat themselves against an unpredictable surface like Chattogram – but will take plenty of lessons away from this series nonetheless.
In this article, we will discuss the main points or high lights of Bangladesh National Cricket Team vs Zimbabwe National Cricket Team Match Scorecard.

Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 1st Test
Zimbabwe marked their triumphant return to Test cricket with a determined three-wicket win against Bangladesh at Sylhet. Despite Bangladesh’s strength in ODIs and T20Is, Zimbabwe showed great resilience in chasing down an ambitious target and sealing an historic win. Blessing Muzarabani earned Players’ Player of the Match honors thanks to his outstanding bowling performance as he amassed six wickets during both innings of this test game.
Zimbabwe openers Brian Bennett (54) and Ben Curran (31) made a solid start with their bat, before both falling victim to Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s five wicket haul in Bangladesh’s second innings – as Bangladesh were bowled out for just 221.
On day four, Bangladesh quickly lost three wickets before Mehidy took two more in quick succession to leave them reeling at 8-3. But captain Shanto and wicket-keeper Jaker Ali managed to resist pressure to keep Bangladesh competitive and maintain an advantage.
Mehidy was back on form in the third over, trapping Craig Ervine lbw with a short delivery that turned away. This decision was upheld upon review and Bangladesh fell to 9-4.
Rain briefly interrupted play at the start of the final session, but soon afterwards the visitors got back on their game and attacked from the outset. Wessly Madhevere showed his mettle with bat and hit seven fours and one six over his 84-ball stay before eventually being dismissed by leg spinner Vincent Masekesa who caught him at long-on.
Zimbabwe lost two wickets quickly to fall to 11-5 but held their nerve to secure an historic win and deny Bangladesh their first home Test win since March 2021. They now seek a series whitewash at Chattogram on Monday.
Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 2nd Test
After an exhilarating first Test match between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in Sylhet, their second fixture promises to be even more captivating. Both sides are playing for pride and redemption in this centuries-old rivalry; therefore the winner of this match could potentially claim a series victory.
After two days, the match remains evenly poised, with Bangladesh trailing by only one wicket at stumps on Day 2. A strong comeback by Bangladesh appears unlikely as their batters struggle for consistency.
Zimbabwe’s batsmen looked to have found some momentum during the final session, yet their hopes of avoiding an innings defeat were dashed by an unbelievable collapse by spinner Vincent Masekesa – making his Test debut and taking five wickets on debut – who took full advantage.
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has dismissed any concerns over his batsmen’s poor form in this series, believing that their team is moving in the right direction and emphasizing that this experience will serve them well as they move through it.
On the batting side, Bangladesh has struggled to make an impression in this series; only Wessly Madhevere managed a half century, with all other batsmen performing poorly.
Chattogram’s pitch should provide more favourable conditions for batsmen than Sylhet’s, yet still offer ample turn and challenge the batters. Rain showers are forecast on three of the five days, providing seamers with early moisture. Yet its scorching humidity could hinder batsmen fitness levels severely – this could ultimately determine its outcome.
Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 3rd Test
Bangladesh took control of this game with an excellent display in the field. Their bowlers led by Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed kept Zimbabwe at bay with batsmen failing to make an impressionful statement of any sort on the board; Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mominul Haque both produced fifty scores, yet they weren’t enough for victory.
Zimbabwe stood their ground, however, and emerged victorious. An exciting test match that demonstrated everything this format has to offer!
Zimbabwe appeared to be on their way to an easy victory when suddenly the tide turned in their favour, as Madhevere orchestrated their comeback and showed they could match it with any team on the continent. Madhevere led their remarkable comeback against all odds.
Zimbabwe are still in contention. Full and outside off, he swings to get an inside edge to the fine leg fence for four! Zimbabwe are in contention.
Taskin Ahmed to Wellington Masakadza, Out! Warning! A ball has struck just below the knees and there has been a loud appeal for strike three! As soon as this occurs, an umpire raises his finger to stop play – with the batter walking off at bat!
Towhid Hridoy to Blessing Muzarabani: FOUR! Another fine delivery by Towhid Hridoy that finds Blessing Muzarabani unbeaten on off side. He flicks it away to him for four runs! Zimbabwe are set for an historic victory!
Taskin Ahmed to Wellington Masakadza, WIDE! This pass is wide on the leg side and completely outwits any attempt by the goalkeeper to catch it!
Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 4th Test
Blessing Muzarabani’s brilliant innings and determined batting helped Zimbabwe defeat Bangladesh by three wickets in Sylhet in their opening Test. Under Craig Ervine’s leadership and with young middle-order members showing remarkable determination to overcome an early deficit and secure their first away Test win since 17 years!
After an initially slow start, Zimbabwe opened with Brian Bennett and Ben Curran making their mark by posting an impressive 95-run stand to propel them onward in pursuit of Bangladesh’s total of 174 runs. Unfortunately for them however, once both were out the home side surged ahead and it seemed that Bangladesh were winning this match easily but Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan kept Bangladesh at bay with quick wickets before Wessly Madhevere held on until the very end to secure an exciting win for Zimbabwe!
Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up five wickets – his second consecutive five-wicket haul for this match – to send shockwaves through Zimbabwe camp, but Wessly Madhevere, Wellington Masakadza and Richard Ngarava made up for their errors with defiant displays at the crease allowing Zimbabweans to reach their target with three wickets remaining.
Zimbabwe won their first Test match against Bangladesh since March 2021, as well as their inaugural victory on these shores since 2018. Now, Zimbabwe are looking to complete a series victory at Chattogram when play resumes Monday 28 April.
Hasan Mahmud to Ben Curran, FOUR! Hasan Mahmud delivers a length delivery on off, Ben Curran swings his feet and hits it through vacant long on region for four runs! Zimbabwe claim victory and record their biggest successful chase ever! This win is an indication of intent from this vibrant Zimbabwe outfit who believe they can play with established orders; one that will surely be celebrated across Bulawayo, Harare and beyond!
