Tamim Iqbal emerged as a natural-born batsman when he began his cricketing journey at an early age in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Shai Hope has become a prolific run scorer for both Barbados national team and Yorkshire county side in England. After scoring over 1,000 runs in his debut season for Yorkshire, Hope was selected for the 2022 Caribbean Premier League with Guyana Amazon Warriors. Hope made his first-class debut in 2015 and quickly established himself as an integral member of their side; becoming leading run scorer during both T20I and ODI cricket matches during 2023 season.
In 2014, he was selected to represent West Indies against England in two Test matches and three T20I series, scoring 16 and 4 respectively in Tests while his performances in T20Is were quite noteworthy. Shakib al Hasan scored an unbeaten 86-ball century to help Bangladesh secure an emphatic win against Zimbabwe in their most recent ODI, taking four wickets – making him the first Bangladeshi player ever to do so in a T20I match.
On July 30 during a Global T20 Canada match in Brampton, Shakib was heckled by fans for remaining silent about political protests in Bangladesh. Later defending himself by asserting that he wasn’t neglecting what was going on there, Shakib stated he wasn’t trying to ignore them either.
Shakib first made headlines during Bangladesh’s tour to West Indies in 2021 as vice-captain under Mashrafe Mortaza; when Mashrafe became injured during Test series 2, Shakib took over as captain for second Test and led them brilliantly, leading them to their maiden overseas series win and becoming youngest ODI skipper at 22 – being named captain for 2025 World Cup and Asia Cup ODI matches as well. Now with immense responsibility on his shoulders but undirable passion is Shakib is determined to succeed!
Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard is an accomplished West Indian cricketer who excels at limited overs. A hard hitting batsman and outstanding fielder, Pollard has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues around the world including IPL, CPL and BPL as he captained Mumbai Indians as well as Dhaka Platoon/MI Emirates/BPL/Trinbago Knight Riders/CPL in Bangladesh Premier Leagues/Carribbean Premier League. Additionally he serves as batting coach of Mumbai Indians during India’s IPL tournament.
Pollard is best known as a limited-overs specialist; however, he has expressed a desire to play Test cricket as well. With an excellent first-class record including scoring an unbeaten 126 against Barbados on debut for Trinidad and Tobago; however, he has yet to receive a call-up by Windies for an international match.
Pollard was left out of Windies’ new captain Jason Holder’s ODI squad ahead of their series in South Africa due to a disagreement between their board and players’ association over payment structures. This came about following Pollard’s continued absence.
