On Boxing Day, Australia and Pakistan renew one of the oldest rivalries in cricket by coming together at one of the world’s largest cricket stadiums for another showdown.

One week may seem long in politics, but for Babar Azam and his team it has seemed much shorter due to a viral fever that has hindered their preparations. In this article, we will discuss about top 5 matches of Australian Men’s Cricket Team vs Pakistan National Cricket Team Timeline.

1. Test Match

Australia have made an emphatic start to their home season, beating Pakistan by an innings at the Gabba. Australia were impressive from start to finish and will hope this victory can become the beginning of an undefeated run of wins – led by veteran batsmen David Warner and Usman Khawaja who were supported by Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Alex Carey Pat Cummins (capt), Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Lyon in their batting order.

Callum Vidler bowled the initial over with right-arm fast bowler Naveed Ahmed replacing him at non-strikers end and his second over was much improved, yielding two doubles to midwicket on its opening ball and pitching one full to Dixon for four runs off it.

At the other end, Zaheer Khan is doing better and has made steady gains, nudging one down leg for a single before hitting one over the rope for six. Later he strayed down leg side for another single before performing an athletic dive near the boundary to save four off Iftikhar Ali.

Australia has produced superb batting from their batsmen, all contributing to an outstanding innings. Following Babar Azam’s early century, Australia’s openers will look to complete their innings quickly with additional big scores; however, Australia’s pacemen have done an admirable job of keeping them quiet; Pakistan will make one last push and hope that some momentum from their tail can give them hope of making up ground in the final session.

2. ODI Match

Australia began their home season on a high note by crushing Pakistan ruthlessly at the Gabba, led by openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh who impressed from start to finish at The Gabba. Warner reached his half century in just 39 balls while Marsh came within one ball of hitting fifty himself.

Both teams combined for another 92-run stand during the second Powerplay over, taking full advantage of short boundaries and fast outfield conditions. Wickets started to fall as bowlers were forced up their game: leg-spinner Zampa claimed Iftikhar for leg before via a slower delivery that grazed his front pad; Iftikhar wasted an appeal before replays confirmed leg before. Hazlewood found his rhythm quickly by dismissing Mir for three with a quicker, flatter delivery that Mir swung at short mid-on.

Both teams were dealt a blow when pacemen Hazlewood and Zampa both experienced ankle injuries that required medical treatment on-field; both will hopefully return for the remainder of the series.

This match promises to be closely contested, with Australia seeking revenge after suffering their most decisive loss against India last time out. Meanwhile, 1992 champions Australia are currently struggling with viral fever which has struck some players since arriving in Bengaluru; nevertheless they should feel confident of winning at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

3. T20I Match

Though Australia’s batsmen have struggled in the recent one-day internationals, their bowlers have been impressive at times. They have successfully restricted oppositions to reasonable totals while picking up wickets at critical moments; when combined with excellent fielding performances this has created a formidable side.

However, in order for any team to reach its full potential, its batting performance must improve significantly. They should score more runs than their rivals while not losing too many wickets during the process.

Pakistan played some exceptional cricket during the 2010 World T20 and reached the semi-finals with outstanding performances, beating Bangladesh, New Zealand and England before falling short against England. However, they showed incredible determination against Australia in the semifinals to come away victorious by 10 wickets!

4. T20I Series

Both teams are set for an inaugural four-match T20I series against each other starting August 8. Both will play three matches in India before travelling across to Pakistan for one contest each.

Australia and Pakistan have met previously in T20Is and ODIs, with Australia emerging victorious both times. When the two teams last met for a T20I matchup at Wanderers Stadium in 2023, Australia won by one wicket and were victorious; Pakistan will look to exact revenge upon this loss during this upcoming series.

Both teams have much at stake as they embark on competing in a four-match Twenty20 International series in 2024. Both squads were drawn into the same group and will face off twice against one another, two being included as final round matches of this tournament.

Pakistan has struggled in T20Is, winning only two out of their 10 matches overall and losing five of seven away games. When these teams last met in this format, Australia defeated Pakistan 2-1 and claimed a three-match series win.

Babar Azam led with an outstanding century while chasing in this match.

Both teams will benefit from the return of several key players following the break, such as Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. However, both will miss Matt Starc and James Faulkner due to injury.

Aamir Jamal and Khurram Shahzad will make their Pakistan debuts. Both players were recruited after Haris Rauf was denied permission from the PCB to play in the Big Bash League due to an injury-related ineligibility, although he may participate limitedly this series.

5. T20I World Cup

The ICC T20 World Cup was the seventh tournament held under this format of cricket. Hosted in South Africa for its inaugural edition in 2007, India triumphed under MS Dhoni and Pakistan finished as runners-up. A subsequent tournament hosted in 2010 and won by England after defeating Sri Lanka in the final; twenty22 saw Australia triumphant as they beat New Zealand to win both ODI and T20 World Cups simultaneously!

Australian players were in impressive form on Day 1, with Usman Khawaja and David Warner both scoring tons to propel their side past Pakistan. Unfortunately, on Day 2 some excellent bowling from Shaheen Afridi and Saud Shakeel kept Pakistan’s scoreboard moving along nicely and caused them to lose some wickets.

Australia’s batsmen rallied well to post an impressive total, taking some restorative overs because multiple players had been affected by dengue fever.

Starting on December 14, Australia and Pakistan will meet for a three-match Test series beginning in Perth. Pat Cummins will captain Australia while Shan Masood leads Pakistan.
