When MP won the Ranji Trophy last season, Chandrakant Pandit was hailed as the ‘Alex Ferguson of domestic cricket.’ But the truth is that it took him two years to build his team from scratch.
Yash Dubey, Shubham Sharma, Aryan Pandey and teenager Akshat Raghuvanshi were all products of Pandit’s vision for the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team.

Eagles
The AISECT Group-owned Eagles are another brand new side built around captain Saransh Jain and standout left-arm spinner Kumar Kartikeya Singh, who is a genuine match-winner on turning tracks.
The batting leans heavily on all-rounders and has little shared tournament history, but a balanced squad with six bowling options grants them stability and tactical flexibility.
This kind of balanced approach may not be as flashy as other clubs, but it’s the sort that has a habit of outlasting more starry sides over the course of a long campaign.
Chasing 108, MP lost opener Yash Dubey early for just one run to Mumbai’s pacer Dhawal Kulkarni. But Shubham Sharma and wicketkeeper/batsman Himanshu Mantri shared a 52-run partnership before Mulani cleanly removed Mantri. This allowed Rajat Patidar to hit the winning runs for MP.
Panthers
Representing the northern region, the Panthers are a balanced squad with all-rounders as their core. Captain Rajat Patidar is a proven performer with bat and ball and their mystery spinner, Shivam Shukla, adds a wildcard dimension to their line-up that could be crucial in the close finishes that decide tournaments.
They may lack the star power of their Bhopal and Gwalior rivals, but well-rounded teams have a habit of outlasting flashier competitors over a long campaign.
Bulls
Representing north-eastern Madhya Pradesh, the Jaguars are a balanced, unflashy side led by Sagar Solanki. They possess enough batting depth to outlast flashier rivals over the course of a campaign, while their six-man bowling attack grants tactical flexibility.
The Bulls aren’t blessed with any standout names, but their well-rounded nature makes them a solid pick in a competitive tournament.
New-team hunger could fuel strong early performances, but the Bulls’ lack of settled chemistry might hurt them in the tight finishes that decide tournaments. They should benefit from the presence of seasoned campaigners like Ashutosh Sharma and Rishabh Chauhan. The squad is a good mix of experience and youthful energy.
Jaguars
In the second match of the double-header day, Rajat Patidar’s Malwa Panthers locked horns with Rewa Jaguars. The Rewa-based side won the game with a 65-run margin. Batting first, the Jaguars posted a mammoth total of 196 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Openers Prithviraj Tomar (77 off 49) and Himanshu Mantri’s brilliant show helped them dominate the opposition bowling unit. Mihir Hirwani was the pick of the bowlers, as he picked 2/33 in his spell.
In reply, Gwalior Cheetahs struggled to reach the target and were restricted to 157/7 in their 20 overs. However, Sanjog Singh Nijjar’s scintillating 61 off 16 deliveries helped the Gwalior-based outfit win the game in a thrilling fashion.
Rewa Jaguars owner Alok Birla believes the Madhya Pradesh League is a great platform for young players to showcase their talents on the big stage. He cited the example of Shivam Shukla, who played in last year’s MP League and was later picked by Kolkata Knight Riders. “Everybody wants to get exposed at a bigger level. This is the right platform for them,” he said.
We want to create a franchise that nurtures cricketers both on and off the field.” The second season of MP League will begin on June 12 and will see Rewa Jaguars take on Chambal Ghariyals and Bhopal Wolves. The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team also plays an important role in developing local talent and providing young cricketers with opportunities to compete at higher levels.
