De’Zhaun Stribling
De’Zhaun Stribling is a dynamic Ole Miss wide receiver who plays an integral part of its offense. A big-play receiver who can cause havoc both airborne and on the ground, Stribling is the nephew of WWE Hall-of-Famer Don “The Rock” Muraco and can fill any position on offense; possessing an explosive first step and making numerous tough catches even under pressure conditions.
Georgia responded with a 12-play drive that ended with Gunner Stockton throwing a 57-yard touchdown pass to Lawson Luckie en route to a 21-14 lead with 7:53 left in the third quarter. The Rebels continued their drive until Kewan Lacy scored on a seven-yard run, tying the game at 14.
Georgia attempted a fake punt on fourth and 10 from Ole Miss’ own 40. However, Suntarine Perkins made sure they weren’t fooled and sacked Stockton for a 10-yard loss – giving Ole Miss possession back with momentum for another 14-play, 75-yard drive that ended in Lacy scoring another touchdown run.
Lucas Carneiro’s 47-yard field goal with six seconds remaining gave Ole Miss its first lead since Lane Kiffin left for LSU, and sealed their Sugar Bowl victory against Georgia. Ole Miss now looks poised for consideration as one of four teams for College Football Playoff Semifinals.

On their next drive, the Rebels would score another touchdown and field goal using trickery to avoid Georgia’s pass rush and find open receivers;
Trinidad Chambliss used his wizardry once more when finding Wallace III for another 44-yard catch on the run and followed that up with two-point conversion pass to Lacy for Lacy to complete a two-point conversion to put them up 31-19 at halftime.
After halftime, both teams exchanged field goals in the third quarter to keep it close. Peyton Woodring kicked a 45-yarder for Georgia before missing a potential game-winner late in the third quarter when Landon Roldan’s pass hit a pylon before Lachlan Benson could recover it.
Second half play was more of a defensive battle, with Georgia managing only to gain three first downs during its final drive before succumbing to another three-and-out from them. On their next drive after this success, however, Kewan Lacy scored with four-yard run to put them ahead 38-24 with just under five minutes left in play.

Lucas Carneiro set a Sugar Bowl field goal record and helped No. 6 Mississippi win their College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup with Georgia at New Orleans on Thursday evening, 13-1-1 Mississippi moving on to meet No. 10 Miami in the semifinals and avenging an earlier regular-season loss against them – Pete Golding took over after Lane Kiffin left for LSU back in November as head coach, earning Ole Miss its second postseason victory since taking charge.
Rebels defense held Georgia to only 297 total yards with only one first down and no ground touchdowns allowed by way of Georgia offense.
Ole Miss’ second half comeback was highlighted by Kewan Lacy’s 61-yard touchdown run and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’ 39-yard pass to Harrison Wallace for another score, plus an Ole Miss facemask penalty giving the Rebels possession within Georgia’s 10-yard line; an Ole Miss touchdown would later be set up when Gunner Stockton of Georgia fumbled on fourth down, leading to another touchdown by Ole Miss.
At one point during the final minute of play, it seemed the Bulldogs might tie or win the game; however, an obvious facemask penalty against Lacy was overlooked by officials and resulted in a 34-34 tie.
Even with its disappointing loss, the Sugar Bowl proved a thrilling, high-scoring affair. Will Echoles has been an instrumental component in the Rebels’ success this year. Not only has he made plays on the field, but his foundation, Working to Improve Lives and Legacies Foundation is organizing its inaugural Christmas toy drive in Houston Mississippi; Will’s mother Regina Lyles-Echoles as well as manager Yolonda Addison were in attendance.
The Bulldogs have been playing solid defense, holding Ole Miss to just one touchdown during the first half. Later in the fourth quarter they added another field goal for an insurance score. They held onto this lead throughout and finished out a tough win against Ole Miss.
Rebels gained some momentum in the second half, but Bulldogs kept up a solid defense and pressured quarterback Trinidad Chambliss into an excellent performance of 30-of-46 passing for 362 yards and two scores during this victory.
Georgia had an opportunity to tie the game late, but were forced to settle for a 42-yard Peyton Woodring field goal instead – giving Georgia only three-point lead but could have easily been much closer.
Ole Miss also experienced issues offensively, including a miscall on fourth down that caused them to be forced backwards towards their 33.
Georgia was able to stop Ole Miss from running up the middle in the final seconds. Ole Miss was trying to move the ball out of bounds when Daylen Everette made an impressive play that resulted in a 46-yard scoop-and-score play.
