Australia and Pakistan are two of the fiercest cricket rivalries on earth, playing games filled with drama and excitement that have created new traditions over time.
Naveed has bowled an excellent over. His fast bowling has hit right-handed batters hard with just two runs scored from it. In this article, we will discuss about top 5 matches of Pakistan National Cricket Team Vs Australian Men’s Cricket Team Timeline.
Top 5 Matches
Pakistan and Australia will clash in their 18th One-Day International match of the World Cup, both teams having secured two victories and one loss so far. The match will begin in Bengaluru at 2 pm IST and can be streamed live via Star Sports network or Hotstar.
Pakistan are looking to get off to a winning start this tournament while Australia are hoping for victory to keep their chances alive of reaching the semi-finals. These teams last met up in 2022 when Pakistan triumphed with Babar Azam’s stunning century while chasing.
Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq put on an opening stand of 134 runs before both were bowled by Marcus Stoinis in quick succession. Unfortunately for Pakistan, wickets fell regularly as Adam Zampa ran through their middle order; ultimately they were bowled out for 301/9 runs in 45 overs.
Pakistan have made an inauspicious start to their run chase, facing an impossible target of just over 60 runs in four overs. They haven’t gone down without a fight however as Rizwan Amir reached his fifty with six over long-on. Unfortunately however, it still looks far away and Australian bowlers have shown they’re content taking their time with economical bowling efforts so far.
First Match
As soon as we’re all seated for national anthems, the match starts! The pitch looks promising for bowling early on; though its effectiveness may diminish over time.
Australia began bowling first and Adam Zampa was introduced into their attack; his delivery hit Imam’s pads for some runs to score off that over.
Hazlewood continues his test bowling, sending full tosses which Afridi smashes for four. On his next big swing he misses and gets caught behind for eight down for Pakistan now.
Babar and Imam had just returned from fielding an over, having struggled since the start of the match to find any sort of flow in their cricketing game.
Hasan Ali is back to bat for Pakistan and scored several runs off an over – including an early double off his first ball!
So far, spinners are keeping scoring at an acceptable pace and haven’t given away too many loose balls.
Imam and Babar have started off well on an ideal batting surface and have both attempted some expansive strokes during their opening partnership.
Second Match
Australia, who won the 2023-25 World Cup, and Pakistan are set to face each other in a three-match Test series beginning December 14 in Perth. Pat Cummins will captain Australia while Shan Masood leads Pakistan – they last met back in March in three one-day internationals where Babar Azam scored a century to help Pakistan take 2-1 win – however Australia are hoping to return from an unexpected home defeat by New Zealand during their opener of this series.
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh began Australia’s campaign at The Gabba with gusto, quickly reaching half-centuries before adding over 100 runs together during the first session. Pakistan bowlers managed to stem this run flow with some disciplined work from Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa to break through their middle order quickly.
Marsh attempted a sweep off his backfoot but was given out leg before. He wasn’t looking comfortable on the pitch and struggled to cope with Zampa’s quick deliveries; another ball from him went straight back onto his pads for another quick wicket.
Shahzaib Khan steps out at number three and looks to score runs in this series. A short fuller delivery outside off found its mark by hitting off-side to deep fine leg for six runs off his bat’s edge – sailing into deep fine leg area for an unconverted six shot! In his fifth over, however, an off-beat bouncer misses and hits off-keeper instead for four towards boundary ropes at end of over, followed by dot to start the over.
Third Match
Australia and Pakistan will meet for their third match at Sydney Cricket Ground, both teams desperate for victory after suffering defeat at India in the previous game. Expect an action-packed contest as both teams are evenly matched; you can watch it live via Star Sports network and Disney+ Hotstar app.
Khawaja and Warner made quick work of Pakistan after an inauspicious start, taking control of the match against new bowler Salman’s viciously spinning and overtly bouncy ball to dismiss Warner for 34. Australia seemed in control until Pakistan fielded poorly again and gifted away wickets to Australia.
Pakistan are now batting through Azam and Hamza, who are struggling to make runs against Mitchell Starc and Alex Carey at second slip, respectively. He then attacked Hazlewood’s delivery by hitting an off-side boundary against Hazlewood’s next delivery, smashing it to leg-slip with ease.
He nearly spoons back a catch, but is saved by an umpire. Hamza then flicked a short delivery from Josh Hazlewood into short midwicket but is denied review due to not approaching his stumps with his bat.
Australia needs at least 65 runs from 104 balls in order to win and Naveed begins the last over by giving away two runs, giving Australia hope of success.
Fourth Match
Australia and Pakistan will meet once more after three ODI matches to play in their fourth Test match, this time under Pat Cummins of Australia while Shan Masood leads Pakistan. Both sides hope to improve upon their form after struggling in their initial two matches; Australia in particular will look forward to welcoming some new faces like Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green and Ben Dwarshuis into their side – in hopes that these newcomers may ease some pressure off Babar Azam during this encounter.
Last time these teams faced each other in a Test was in 2022 when Pakistan prevailed in three-match series. Both are eager to start off strong this time around as only one side will advance further in competition.
Australia will open their innings with David Warner and Mitchell Marsh batting together in the middle. These duo hope to form an excellent partnership and give the home side an excellent start.
Starting the over with two wides, Australia took their second ball and scored a single from it. Due to a misfield by Pakistan’s keeper in the deep, two more runs are scored off this over.
Warner hit it straight down the ground for another six off an inside edge shot from Warner. Pakistan are four down with seven overs left to play.
Nawaz bowled the final over and started off by bowling two dots to start it, followed by Australia taking an early single. He then bowled a bouncer that was hit hard enough for it to return into play by an umpire who subsequently gave a single on its first ball – before ending it off with one more dot for good measure.
