SRH vs PBKS

SRH are currently at the top of the table while PBKS are struggling at the bottom. PBKS have lost three out of their four matches so far and need a win to stop their descent into league obscurity – an opportunity which lies with them against an inconsistent SRH team who have looked vulnerable at the back this season.

PBKS openers set an early pace with an explosive partnership of 67 in three overs. At one point they were on course for an 83/1 powerplay score when Mohammed Shami struck with three boundaries off Mohammed Shami to help build a solid platform. Unfortunately debutant Eshan Malinga struck quickly in his first over with a wicket-taking yorker from debutant Eshan Malinga that removed Prabhsimran before picking up Priyansh Arya for 36 off 13 overs – even with Mohammed Shami being responsible.

Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad responded immediately with an astonishing display of strokeplay, racing to his first IPL century off just 40 balls, hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes along the way – breaking KL Rahul’s IPL record along the way! His innings was truly outstanding, adding another impressive achievement to his resume.

SRH maintained their unchanged batting order to great success as they reached the finish line with nine balls to spare. Abhishek was once again impressive while Travis Head backed him with his unbroken 117-run stand with Abhishek that set up their victory. Fans will fondly remember Abhishek and Travis Head’s innings which will live long in their memories; after four losses this victory gave SRH confidence going into their final phase of the season.
