IND Women vs IRE Women

India women’s team defeated Ireland by six wickets in the first ODI and will look to seal the series in Rajkot in their next outing. Youngster Pratika Rawal scored 89 off 96 balls while captain Smriti Mandhana contributed 41 runs to help India post an impressive total. Unfortunately for Ireland though, rain brought an early end to their innings which resulted in premature dismissals of many of their batsmen.

Ireland women suffered a poor start, losing two wickets within their opening over. Gaby Lewis and Laura Delany worked well to accelerate their run rate during middle overs, before the rain came pouring down.

Smriti Mandhana expressed her satisfaction with how her team played, believing it to be an enjoyable batting experience. She believes the team needs to work on certain aspects before going forward with its semi-final campaign; further crediting young batsmen for taking on such responsibility.

Gaby Lewis, Ireland women’s captain, believes there is much for her team to take away from this series. She applauded their hard work and singled out Pratika Rawal for her spectacular innings. Gaby mentioned how they will look to improve their fielding in game two as well as keep tight control.

2002 ODI Series

Indian spinners Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal provided India with an unassailable win against Ireland in their third One-Day International at Rajkot. Together they scored an astounding 233-run partnership that secured them victory, securing the fourth-highest total ever achieved in women’s ODI cricket history. Jemimah Rodrigues scored her maiden century while India then wrapped up victory by dismissing Ireland for only 131 runs en route to a 304 run win and complete 3-0 series victory. Indian spinners contributed significantly, taking 6 wickets between them!

Gaby Lewis scored a swift 92 but ultimately failed as Ireland were bowled out for 238 on a flat track wicket. She nevertheless praised her team’s effort, saying, “there have been lots of learnings for all involved, as it has been an incredible series with some stunning performances by all,” which will take place between May 29-June 4.

1999 ODI Match

India’s batting was dominant against Ireland’s limited attack as Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal each scored centuries, while Jemima Rodrigues registered her maiden ODI hundred to propel India to an impressive total and secure an easy victory. Spinners played their part by picking up multiple wickets quickly while deny Ireland any chance for comeback.

India won the toss and elected to bat first, amassing an unprecedented total in women’s one-day international cricket history; also representing their highest win against Ireland ever in an one-day international.

2017 ODI Series

India secured an emphatic series victory against Ireland through an outstanding batting display from Mandhana, Rawal and Hasabnis – contributing 304 runs between them – while Jemimah Rodrigues received her maiden One Day International hundred to claim Player of the Match honours.

India achieved their highest total ever in women’s ODI cricket and the fourth-highest total overall. Pratika Rawal and captain Smriti Mandhana shared an unbroken opening stand of 233 runs after winning the toss and opting to bat first at Rajkot.

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis made a valiant attempt at keeping her team competitive by scoring 92 runs but her efforts went for nothing as India’s spinners made quick work of dismissing Ireland for just 131, sealing their series victory 3-0 and setting up presentations later.

2018 ICC Women’s World T20

India defeated Ireland 3-0 and produced their highest one-day international total ever with their 435-5 total in Rajkot after winning the toss. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal both made centuries in opening positions as India amassed 435-5 on a flat track track despite Gaby Lewis scoring an unproductive 92 off 64 balls batting at number 6. Rawal’s composed 89 and Hasabnis’ 53* allowed India an easy run-out win!
